Educational and environmental initiatives with a social impact have become increasingly important in the business world. In a context where organizations are increasingly aware of the role they can play in their environment, the promotion of intergenerational projects linked to sustainable development and community welfare is consolidating as a tangible expression of corporate social responsibility.

This is the framework for Rioma‘s active commitment to supporting programs that combine practical learning, environmental awareness and intergenerational connection. Recently, the company has participated in an action that unites two projects with a common approach: school gardens and intergenerational therapeutic gardens, promoted with the support of several local entities.

Thanks to our collaboration with the Somos Naturaleza Foundationand the co-financing of the Fernán Núñez City Council, school gardens have been developed in several educational centers. These spaces have become living educational tools where students can learn first-hand about the origin of food, promote healthy habits and establish a direct relationship with the natural environment. Beyond their educational dimension, these gardens offer an environment of coexistence and shared learning, where play, creativity and teamwork play a central role. Boys and girls learn to cultivate, but also to collaborate, share and respect, consolidating a foundation of essential values from an early age.

In addition, the initiative “Sowing smiles at any age: therapeutic gardens for intergenerational wellbeing”, led by the Somos Naturaleza Foundation at the Antonio Gala Public Adult Education Center (CEPER), is supported. This project is developed with the collaboration of the CaixaBank office in Montilla. Designed especially for the elderly, these gardens offer an accessible space where gardening becomes an activity that promotes both physical health and emotional balance and social interaction. Through weekly activities, students improve their quality of life and strengthen their self-esteem in an inclusive and participatory environment.

The benefits observed in this intergenerational activity range from improved emotional well-being to the creation of a strong sense of community. The collaboration between entities, educational centers and citizen groups highlights the added value of this type of solidarity approach, where sustainability is combined with human development. Through this type of projects, Rioma reinforces its corporate social responsibility approach, betting on initiatives that connect generations, promote purposeful education and consolidate an organizational culture committed to collective wellbeing and the environment.
