Since its foundation, Rioma has been demonstrating that it is possible to combine business success with social and environmental commitment.

This textile company, based in Montilla (Córdoba), is an interesting example of how Corporate Social Responsibility establishes powerful points of contact between private activity and programs that seek to improve people’s quality of life and protect the planet.

Rioma’s vision is to be an agent of change that drives the renewal of the textile industry through projects that promote a sustainable lifestyle for the benefit of people and environmental protection.

The company’s social work is carried out through an ambitious program that, among other things, allocates resources to two foundations.

On the one hand, the Fundación Social Universal, a non-governmental organization that arose in Montilla as a result of awareness and solidarity in the face of poverty and profound inequality in Spanish society and in the most impoverished regions of the world. On the other hand, Somos Naturaleza, a foundation whose purpose is to defend nature and improve the relationship between humanity and its environment.

The social work of a committed company

Rioma currently articulates its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives around different areas.

In the area of International Cooperation, it has been financing local and international development projects (Spain, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, etc.) to alleviate social and environmental imbalances for more than 26 years.

In the area of Social Action, through the aforementioned Fundación Social Universal and Fundación Savia, Rioma promotes educational projects, the promotion of Equality and Human Rights, rural and heritage development, care for the Environment and adaptation to Climate Change.

On the other hand, Rioma promotes quality local employment, following active training policies and promotes the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, promoting products aimed at reducing the consumption of raw materials and the reuse of by-products and waste.

Since its foundation, the company has been committed to the sustainable renovation of the textile industry, whether it be through the introduction of ecological pigments, the marketing of products free of harmful substances such as its Eco Care line or the launch of its first ORGANiC fabric linewhich has been GOTS certified.

A pioneer in sustainability

For more than 50 years, Rioma has been manufacturing textile products for decoration and upholstery. They operate globally and their basic pillars are innovation, quality and sustainability. They were pioneers in Spain in the introduction of ecological pigments and the use of high quality natural fibers. They are characterized by the development of high performance fabrics, especially suitable for public spaces with high traffic such as hotels, cinemas and restaurants.
