The UN Global Compact Spain has launched the third edition of the Sustainable Supplier Training Program, an international initiative that seeks to promote sustainability training within the supply chains of large companies. With the support of the ICO Foundation and ICEX Spain Export and Investment, this project offers SMEs practical tools and knowledge to move towards a more responsible business model aligned with the Ten Principles of the Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda.

The training, which is free of charge for participating companies, takes place over the course of a year and combines online courses, live and pre-recorded sessions, practical guides and case studies. The content ranges from the fundamentals of sustainability to aspects such as the SDGs, ethical and responsible management in human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption, as well as business internationalization and transparent communication. The program, available in Spanish, English and Portuguese, is designed for SMEs supplying large companies, with an expected reach of 5,000 companies globally.

Upon completion of the training, SMEs receive a certificate accrediting their participation, while the large driving companies receive a compliance report and recognition at the closing ceremony. The aim is clear: to promote stronger, more competitive and sustainable supply chains, capable of responding to today’s global challenges and advancing in the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda.

Within this framework, Rioma has recently participated in training, incorporating the lessons learned into its sustainability strategy. The experience has been an opportunity to deepen ESG criteria, reinforce responsible resource management and identify new areas for improvement in daily operations, always with a view to building a more balanced and environmentally friendly future.
